I think inspireme took a whack at plugins and found them to be very unworkable without more direction from dody.

last I heard Nicecoder had some stuff on its plate but when that got taken care of they were going to work on plugins. Well, that is my recollection, anyway. It could be that my rememberer is broken.

in all honesty, I don't have any desire to learn how to do plugins. there just are not enough active NiceCoder members to make such an effort worth it.

Plugins count, but my post with the reference to "new" means that it needs to be a new mod or plugin, not some rehashed mod that was already released.

Remeber the disclaimer at the bottom of the rules post, that's been there since the beginning and it says rules and prizes can changes at any time.

so if i do a MOD in a different way or improves upon what someone has previously done, that doesn't count...???

Yeah, well, we all know how well Nicecoder can "change the rules" at any time to suit its own purposes.

We live under that fear all the time at this site so I guess I'll just have to take a chance.

Making a mod that does the same thing but in a different way isn't making a new mod. If you improve upon what someone else has done it may be considered new if it gives a measurable amount of improvement (features, not fixes).

    What about ESMs point:
"I think inspireme took a whack at plugins and found them to be very unworkable without more direction from dody."

It seems to me there were a number of posts from several weeks ago looking for help related to plugins that were were ignored.

I too am concerned with the number of talented contributors that have obviously now flown the coop.

While I'm all for rules, these are frighteningly tight interpretations.

In any event, considering there's been NO submitted mods in ages, I would think IndexU would be better served by taking this chance to encourage a contributor. This seems far from that.

Don't they give you a new patent number if you improve upon an existing patent...?

Ooops...! But I digress. This is a Nicecoder script. My bad.

I never said you couldn't improve something by adding to it's functionality, but simply making a mod that does the same exact thing as one already released is pointless because it already exists.
