IndexU v6 released

Nicecoder is proud to annouce the release of IndexU version 6.

Version 6 brings in a large amount of changes and features including a plugin system and built in support for languages. Version 6 also bring a reduced number of template files that makes it easier to customize your installation.

Version 6 is now available for download in your client area at https://nicecoder.com/order/client_login.php

Along with the new release is a new license system. These licenses require users to renew their license every year in order to continue to receive updates.

Below is the pricing for license renewals

Single domain license $30
10 domain license $99
25 domain license $99
Unlimited domain license $99

iDesk single license $30
iDesk 10 domain license $99

NOTE - THESE ARE NOT LICENSE PRICES - THEY ARE RENEWAL PRICES!!!

If your license was purchased more than a year ago from today then you would be required to pay for your license renewal before you can download version 6.

NOTE - Please send me a private message or email support with your ORDER ID if your license was purchased within the last year and you cannot download v6.

thats actually pretty ridiculous. I purchased unlimited but have 5 sites on it. I had no other option at the time, so im meant to may $449 ? or do i pay $99 and then only have an inferior license?

That you'd have to take up with Dody or John. Most people who have unlimited licenses have dozens to hundreds of installations.

If you don't need unlimited what's the issue with going to a 10 or 25 license package? It may be "inferior" as you call it, but if you're not using it then it really doesn't matter.

But I have for 1 domain licence paid in February 2008 $99.
Can I use then now on 10 domains? Because the price $ is 99 now for 10 domains.

And do I have pay February 2009 as from next $30 for updates?

Licenses are valid for a year. So if you bought the license in Feb 08 then it would expire in Feb 09

The price is not $99 for 10 domains, the license renewal for 10 domains is $99.

If you don't need unlimited what's the issue with going to a 10 or 25 license package? It may be "inferior" as you call it, but if you're not using it then it really doesn't matter.

No issue, unless in the future i do use it and have to re-buy more licenses... its not really clear if i could buy a 10 license pack, even though i have an unlimited license? I was assuming BECAUSE i had an unlimited license, the charge is $450.

I would like to see some loyalty scheme for forum users, Anyone with over 400 posts got a 50% reduction in renewal fee or something... may get the forum nice and lively... just an idea.

Okay, so i have 5 websites, i have an unlimited domain license because this is all that was offered at the time i purchased. (no 5 or 10 options)

I have to pay $449 PER YEAR for updates.

Its almost cheaper for me to re buy the software each year... anyway i just posted this here because the other thread is moderated, and i want to vent at the injustice. Obviously this is the only way it can be done unlimited license holders, cant buy a single license renewal because human nature is such that they would use it on all sites. It would be nice if someoen could come up to a fairere solution, maybe let me downgrade in return for a free year or somehting.

If you can't download v6 and your license is less than a year old then send email to info at nicecoder.com

Matt you're in a unique situation, I've never seen anyone (until you) that has an unlimited license and is using so few licenses. You would need to talk to Dody about that one.

Remember that all this is new to me too! I was notified by email that all this was already done this morning.

A loyalty system is a good idea, as long as it is policed properly. Otherwise users will simply make "me too" posts to increase their post count. Considering that it's 2 or 3 AM for Dody right now, I'm not sure if he'll still be around to answer any of these questions right away. But I'll make sure I point out the idea to him.

How can NiceCoder start charging for licences?, they have and are still advertising FREE LIFETIME Support and Updates.
I'm sure a lot of people expect exactly what they paid for, and will not be too happy with paying for what was promised was FREE.
