Thumbs up Great Support should always be rewarded!

This forum should have a donation option where people can donate money to users on the forum. Even a website for users of this forum with there profile and a donation option would be nice.I don't think i would still be working on my website if it was not from the tremendous help i get from this forum.

Even a website like Expert Advice Online by LivePerson would be best but only for indexu/. People could visit the website see who is online and start conversation and ask for expert help (live). Check out how this website works, imagine for indexu.

Thank You to all the helpers.

I'd offer live help. I've even offer phone support. But I don't think you or anyone else would want to pay the kind of money I want for doing it.

I'll look into a donate thing.

As long as it is reasonable pricing i would pay! If you look at the website i showed you.. depending on what you looking for, prices vary, and some want more... some want less. Any one should be able to sign up and offer any kind of help and any one should be able to pick the expert with the price hes more comfortable with.Again a simple donation page would be easier but it would be nice to find all the help u need in one locations build on that purpose and see who available and who's not and have reviews as references.

Think how attractive it would be for people who need that help.To be like hay if i buy an indexu product there's even more then just a forum.

I just think something is missing for the good people on this forum.

but most people don't need that kind of help.

They want to know why their site is broken, and it's because they didn't install it properly and didn't follow the point by point guide I wrote. But it's still our fault that it doesn't work.

Or how about the guy who greaks his site with bad HTML and then blames IndexU?

Or the girl who adds something into the header area for every category (a meta tag) and wonders why the template doesn't work and fights with me for 3 months that it's my fault all while refusing to give me the user/pass for indexu but every second email she sends her db login because that's where the problem is accoding to her. And then when I pull the admin info out of her database and go prove to her that it's her fault she says she'll move to phpld because she buys thousands of scripts a year. She's still using IndexU by the way.

How about the guy who uploaded IndexU and didn't run the install and then blamed me specifically because it didn't work. After telling him for two weeks to run install/install.php I finally told him I'd install it for free. he gave me the FTP address. No username, no password, no database info. Never heard from him again.

How about the dozens of people that want to know why IndexU can't mirror DMOZ and they get errors when they try to import a 4GB database to their shared webhosting account?

Those are just SOME of the reasons why I won't do live support (including IM) or phone support for anything less than big bucks. At one point I even researched a 900 number for doing phone support.

As I said, I'll look into the donation thing, but that's about as far as we're going to go with it.

ya i dint look at that side of the story but u can define what you do and what you do not do. It can be just simple live chat help and you charge by the min, or even minimal code modification. But hay just a donation thing would be nice.

So how does my "Make a donation" mod look?

And by the way, since that is not how these kinds of things should be done, only an admin can add/edit the donation info for users.

The way it sits right now, it's just a code addition to VB pulling info from a user profile field. Users profile fields cannot contain HTML so I had to add the HTML open and close to VB, and then in the profile I can add the actual code for a user.

If I allowed users to do this on their own it could run into abuse issues. Which is why the field is not editable by users. It also won't show up unless there's something there.

The problem with ALL of the current donation systems for vBulletin is that they ONLY use paycrap. And I hate paycrap. Using this system you can use ANY payment provider, including a merchant account.

Nice and simple, that's the way I like things. If you like it, let me know. If you hate it, let me know.

Nice i was just trying to give your first donation but i am getting this with moneybookers says Your card is enrolled for the "Verified by Visa" program. This means that you have been issued a password to secure your online payments with this card.

Before we can process your payment, please verify your credit/debit card:

    1. Press 'Send' and we will send a text message (SMS) to your mobile/cell phone:

I like paycrap why don't you like them/?

paycrap thinks they're the shit, and they treat users like it too. They have no regulation and their TOS basically says they can do whatever they want. Go ahead and read it, you'll have nightmares.

I've seen the nightmares of business going bankrupt because paycrap decided to TOS their account because people made invalid complaints about the account and Paycrap holds funds for 180 days after they TOS an account. Just imagine if you have thousands of dollars in your account and hundreds of monthly paying customers and suddenly the account is gone (closed) and you have no access to your money.

I use a merchant account for accepting payments online. And I also use moneybookers but I also have a moneybookers merchant account. A merchant account is probably the safest way to get paid online. It's not free, it actually costs a little more than paycrap, but you're guaranteed your funds will be deposited every two weeks directly into your account or a check sent to your door.

note that the moneybookers merchant account works kinda like paypal, they don't payout every two weeks but you can request a deposit/check at any time.

I don't believe half of the stories on the following site, and I'm sure out of the other half someone is lying, but that still leave 25% of the reports as probably valid. Check out paypalsucks.com

Moneybookers is actually run by a bank in the UK. UK banking regulations are strict. Sure they can still TOS you, but they can't toy with you like Paycrap does.

That would be a big piss off if that would happen but i think i can deposit any amount any time directly into my back account with paypal.

    I saw that too lol

It looks like they don't monitor their forum very well. There's spammers on it that are posting trojans.
