Category Look ??

Hii all,

How do i edit the way the categories on the index page look...I'd like to add a field or two to each category and some text also.

How could i do the same and which file should i edit to achieve it??

To edit how anything looks on the main page, you edit index.html file in your themes/default folder.

in index.html...all that I have in regard to category is this :

<%category%>

I wanted to customise each category, like have some text below, may be change the color and stuff like that. can i do it ??

Please let me know, If i can do it...or if possible someone can customise it for me..??

Change application.php, find variable such $cat_font_face, $cat_link_style, and so on.

Okay, what if i want to have some text below each category name...

example :

One of my categories is :

Unix Hosting
Some Text here

Like wise, i would like to have different text for each category names...is that possible, if so..How can i do it..which file shud i edit..

You can place the text in description field.

Could pleaseee tell me which file ( and where can i locate that file ) I can find the description filed for each category...I am using lite version...which I plan to upgrade to commercial version by this month end.

It's not about the file, it's stored in the database. If you want to do modification to the category, it's provided in admin area.

Okay, how do i make the changes in the database...?? Could u pls explain that a bit to me ?!

I might want to add some links along with text also..is that possible...??
Also I'd like to know, if its the same way in commercial version also..!?!

Go to admin area, then edit or add category, there listed all atributes of category which you can edit, included description. Or if your hosting provide phpMyAdmin, you also can change the database directly. Find category table, then edit. That's all.
