Arrow Help wanted to complete site

I’m looking for help on the following items for USRealEstateExpert.com, a directory for real estate agents. I’ve imported all states and cities, and have performance issues due to the large number of categories (over 50,000). I also want to get the site done from a design perspective.

    1. Review configuration for improving performance due to the large number of categories when accessing categories and adding a new listing. Was thinking adding state field to narrow down number of sub categories might help.
    2. Review configuration for security purposes
    3. Replace banner graphic throughout directory + misc graphic / design changes.
    4. Replace Add Listing, New Listing, etc buttons with provided graphics
    5. Reformat main category page by eliminating folder graphics and sub categories, adding ad sense to far right column.
    6. Reformat sub category pages by eliminating folder graphics, adding ad sense to far right column.
    7. Review billing setup (pricing / invoicing), integrate with Pay Pal
    8. Google sitemap setup
    9. Change Yahoo Entertainment New to Yahoo Real Estate News based on Real Estate, Mortgage, Federal Reserve, etc.
    10. Remove Yahoo Top Stories

Let me know if there are any questions.

Your first step should be to dump the database and start again.

I would suggest only listing cities with populations over 100k (or 75k if you want a bit larger of a database) for each state.

I'm actually doing a number of real estate sites for a customer and have suggested the same thing to him. 50,000 empty categories makes your site look bad. REAL bad.

Perhaps when I am done I will offer the database for general sale.

    Hi Bruce,

Did you ever do anything with the State / City database?

    Thanks,

    Kurt

    No I didn't, yet.

I do have a database of all cities in the US, and I do have one with a number of populations. The population database isn't complete for all cities however. So if I made a databasae out of that, some of the valid cities might be dropped accidentally.

I can keep looking if you're interested though.
