It's a sad fact of life that it's quite easy to spider another site, mine it and make it your own. Take solace in the fact that you had the data first, and many search engines know this, so they may just see that other site as duplicate content and penalize them for it.

Well the other site is based out of Pennsylvania, so I'm not sure what a bunch of Local Vancouver, BC, Canada sites will do for them.

No they just copied the categories to use as their own.

Heh, us hillbilly farmboys do have access to video cameras...granted they record on VHS tapes, but it still makes a movie just the same.

Seriously, thanks. I underestimated the amount of work and time that went into it. Heck it took me several hours just to copy it. I searched 100 different sites looking for a decent list of business categories....even google's list sucks.

Lesson learned.
