Indexu Deluxe v1.2.1 works!

This post will contain no complaints... no gripes, no *****ing and no support questions. Only praise and thanks will apply. I've successfully completed the upgrade of my site from Indexu 5.4.1 to Deluxe v1.2.1. Yipee! Hurray! Wahoo! It freakin' works!!

I'm pleased to report everything went well and Deluxe seems to work fine for me now. I even went through my links database and purged out all the deadwood and revalidated the 500 links that remain. Now that I've got IndexU working again, I intend to add a couple of thousand new links to our search engine soon.

I also managed to successfully compare the custom mods I made to the templates a year ago when we upgraded from v3.0 to 3.5.4 and figured out how to migrate our custom template to the new IndexU release too. I was happy to figure out how to accomplish that particular bit of prestidigitation!

Finally, and most importantly, I also installed the new integration between vBulletin and IndexU and got that running too. It works well, actually; but I'm looking forward to being able to login to both apps with a single login soon. Having multiple logins on the same site only leads the visitor to question the webmaster's sanity and competence. As hard as I've worked to make all our apps play well together in the same sandbox, it offends my quality standards to think someone might decide I'm incompetent because they have to login several times.

Basically, I'm glad to report we managed to make just about everything in the new release work and it looks damned good too.

For the record, this upgrade is part of a much larger server-to-server migration project and overall upgrade and facelift for this site which - believe it or not - successfully integrates software and tools from more than a dozen software suppliers in six nations including Britain, the EU, India, Indonesia, Scotland, and the USA.

Needless to say, updating, upgrading and re-integrating this site and all that software has been a very challenging project!

Thanks to everyone here for your help. Special thanks to Bruceper, Echo, and FSGDAG for their sage advice, experience and support and the programmers over in Elbonia deserve lots of credit too, of course. I'm not sure I would ever have made it this far without your help, guys. Though I still have 2 *new* software products to install PLUS our OSCommerce/Zencart shopping cart and SSL certificates to get upgraded and working again, the hardest part of the project -- the upgrade and re-integration of all those apps - is done now. The rest of the work is more testing, a couple of new software installs and a bit more menu-level integration for the products we're already running.

As you can tell, I'll be thrilled when I can finally put this project behind me!
