Can anyone give me some feed back on purchasing Text Link Ads. Is this helpful for PR purposes? Is it a good "SEO" practice? Is it frowned upon?
Thanks in advance![]()

comment isn't about buying links, per se. however, in terms of pr, and actually getting your site listed on other sites, dmoz.org is still a very important directory (though lots of seo like to downplay its relevance). google's own directory, of course, draws directly from dmoz. press releases can also produce good links -- through google news, comments with links in topix, etc., etc.
DMOZ has recently gotten on my last nerve!!! I think I'm with the SEO's on this one and question DMOZ's true revelance in the web directory world. You never hear anything from them on weather or not your site has been approved or not. There's no place to have a communication with the editors to understand better what DMOZ is looking for.
And if all of that isn't bad enough... I recently had a site listed for about 4 months and yesterday I found out that it was taken off. For no apparent reason! And trying to find out why its removed is damn near impossible!
DMOZ was made "god" of the web directory world and there is absolutely no over-sight of how they do things.

No argument from me -- I'm really not talking about the quality of its editorial systems, etc. I'm talking about the 'treatment' of sites (e.g., PR) that do get in. For this, it is definitely worth the two-minute exercise (and SEOs that don't, aren't taking their job seriously, in my opinion). But it is not worth beating your head over.![]()

It's a similar service to Google Adwords, but they do text links only, where Adwords uses text and images.
Be careful of how much you offer to spend (budget, CPC, CPM etc) as it can really add up fast.
I've never used them either way, so I don't have any knowledge of them or their product. I thought about signing up, but haven't done so yet.
I'd consider tnx.net for buying links, much cheaper compared with TLA. I never use it before, but I read their customer success story in other forum.
if PR is the question/goal i'm not sure about a company whose own PR is 3 (domain established in 97). it does seem, however, that tnx.net philosophy is somewhat less PR focused, which IMO is a good thing. interesting.
