How do I remove this? What files do I need to change? I know about removing the block but what do I remove to stop the call for it from the home page?

Ok, I spent some time looking around and stubled onto the place to change this, footer.tpl - I have not deleted the block files but just took away the call for it, so it doesn't show. Will this cause me problem?

It's in /themes/kosmos/index.html (in case you're using kosmos).
Remove this part:
Code:<%block_tell_friend%>
