Indexu sites lost pagerank

On the latest pagerank update from google all my indexu driven sites lost pagerank, and traffic was cut dramatically.

Most of my indexu sites had a pagerank 4, and after the google pagerank update they were downgraded to pagerank 2.

This makes me think that there is something in the indexu system, that is now working against some parameters of the google pagerank calculation.

Would be interesting if we could pinpoint this.

It has nothing to do with IndexU. There are so many factors involved also, that to say its just IndexU causing it is ridiculous.

No its not indexu - a lot of sites have been impacted during the latest PR update

Have seen posts saying Google is placing less value on directories - but who knows!

PS: It would be very hard for Google to know that you were using indexu - after all its only looking at the HTML pages not the php code behind the scenes

What is called "SEO" is typically crap. Sure it's mysterious and confusing. And no one will tell you the rules. And that's why it's crap.

You can't guess why your site isn't number 1, you can only try changing things and mixing stuff around and getting more backlinks.

Remember that for Page Rank, it largely depends on backlinks. And since PR only updates every few months that gives your competitors a few months to get more backlinks than you. And that's probably why you see/saw a decline in PR.

People have been whining for years that Google hates directories. But yet they still make money, still make traffic and still get submissions.

Yes, SEO is crap, yes directories still make money, but several big french directories (as a frenchman I only know those) lost PR by the last PR updates : if you run a directory today, you have to be selective and/or to run a niche.

Nevertheless, my directory (i only got one running as of today) went PR2 instead of PR3, whereas I got 50% more visitors during the last days (but will it continue ?)

Could you show us some of your sites ? may be you have some external links thematically not connected with your IU site ? Because of these links you get a filter and site is loosing their traffic - in search result you are nearly on 40/60 position.

PR is usually a factor of the sites which links to your site. If these sites are banned/filtered or losts their PR - your site is going down in search result and sometimes PR is reduced.

Some of my IU are still on the same level of PR, some gained PR1 or 2.
