Ratings of Products

I fully intended to purchase the full version, but it seemed simpler to install the lite version to make sure it would work on our system first.

I downloaded the lite version to see if the product would do what I want. I think I may be on the wrong track.


I am looking for a site that allows me to run consumer reviews of products much like http://www.epinions.com/ or like www.gearshark.com

It seeems like the version I downloaded only supports website reviews.

Where should I go from here. My site is InMyPack.com

At any rate, the lite version, which you installed, does not have a review capability. However, the full version v3.1 does support reviews. see the one of the "Sites in Action" or http://www.atozfitness.com/indexu/review.php?id=217.

Although I am not aware of anyone modifying the review database, the software itself readily allows it. While the target market for INDEXU is Link Directories, I have seen such software used for lots of things. Things like newpaper/magazine articles, school directories, real estate listings, membership sites, script listings, etc

I did quite a bit of looking at one time for software that did "reviews of products." The best thing I have found has been a program like INDEXU. But it will take a fair amount of customizing.

Personally, I think INDEXU is the easiest to customize and would probably do much of what you want. But that is something only you can decide.

And if you look elsewhere, let me know if you find that "review software." I would certainly be interested in it.

take a look at http://www.randommouse.com/cgi-bin/r...do/submit.cgi. I think this is what the Magpie software is all about. It is not dissimilar from the link I gave you: http://www.atozfitness.com/indexu/review.php?id=217.

It would not be terribly difficult to add those same fields to INDEXU thereby achieving the same functionality. It appears to me that you could pretty much duplicate what you see here: http://www.bugeurope.com/cgi-bin/rms...%2F%20Salzburg by using INDEXU. Add the reviews fields and I'm not sure you could tell the difference.

Magpie seems to be written using PERL . but could offer a relatively painless way to integrate readymade review software to INDEXU. But if you can do the modification yourself, I'd go with INDEXU completely.
