    Default Purchase / Support / PayPal ?

    Greetings,

I was just curious on the general support offered by nicecoder.com, and if there are any issues with processing payments. I really hate to post this here, but my responses via email have been ignored (my last response has been waiting since 3/7). I'm really quite interested in the products offered here, but will look elsewhere if my experience so far is considered "normal."

On 3/7 at roughly 7:00pm PT, an order was placed for a Power Bundle I via PayPal (as shown on the Order page). A few minutes later, I sent an email to support as I did not get an automated response or any confirmation besides PayPal's standard one, and I wanted to ensure everything was going smoothly. A little over an hour later, I received a "payment denied" response from PayPal, noting that Moon rejected it. No reasoning provided, and the last email sent still has never been responded to.

Should I just move on, or is the project/support worth the effort? I figured giving it a couple days would be reasonable, but now, I have hesitations I'll ever hear back. Just looking for opinions on this.

    Thanks.

I would say that your experience is about average. the programmer is very good but also very absent. When he is active on the forum, he very knowledgeable. He has been very inactive for most of the past three years but he has been somewhat active with the release of v5.

The current official policy is stated at: http://www.nicecoder.com/community/s...ead.php?t=3106

lack of support has been discussed througtout the forums. http://www.nicecoder.com/community/s...ead.php?t=1298

v5 has had its share of bugs but nothing too critical. my impression is that keeping track of them for your own software (if you buy it), can be a nightmare. The only official support is thru submitting a ticket to support@nicecoder. And you cannot see anyone else's tickets so you have no idea what other bugs have been reported/fixed. They do maintain a change log but you will need to do some heavy thinking to figure it out.

If you can spell PHP, HTML, mySQL, you will be an expert around here. v5 uses SMARTY so you will need to factor that in.

Having said all of that, the software is pretty good. Probably better than most. You'll just need to overcome the support issue. But support is probably an issue for most of the links software available. And the other software is probably not as good as INDEXU. Most of the folks seem to muddle thru the support issue, one way or the other.

But until the programmer figures out that he could actually solve his support problems by increasing the number of knowledgeable folks here at the forum, you will be somewhat on your own.

Bottom line: the software is pretty good but you can very easily become frustrated like the rest of us on the support issue.

Emails between the email sender/receiver and dody have been an EXTREMELY sore subject matter. The senders say that they did not receive a response and dody says that he never received the email or that if he did receive the email that he did in fact respond to the email.

It has occurred far too often with too many different folks to be an isolated incident or just one person with an axe to grind. And I have no idea what actually happened. Maybe the emails were sent but never delivered. Maybe they were somehow lost between the time they were sent and the time the would have been delivered.

But for those who read this later, my recommendation is to forget about being polite and allowing time for an email response. Continue to send emails on a regular basis until you receive a response.

REOMMENDATION: You should send an email EVERY day AND post EVERY day on the forum until you do receive a response.
