is there a limitation on the number of categories and links?
I would like to import the full dmoz which is about 4 millions links and I am not sure indexu will work with that amount od data.

Another DMOZ clone. Using $99 software. Run by one person. Will it never end?

But, hey, go for it. I've been wrong many times before.

esm is right, why not zero in on a niche, and make the best damn site you can... lets face it, does anybody here actually bother going through the categories to find somehting in dmoz? nope! they tap it in on google.
good luck

You are right about a niche, but there are also other factors and uses to consider.
1/ In the dmoz extractor documentation it says "Please make attention that INDEXU is not designed to handle large database. INDEXU could crash with database over 10,000 categories and 400,000 web links."
But in another example I see a site http://www.placemarks.de/ with over 4 million links, so I am a little bit confuse on the possibility to handle a large database or not.
2/ I usually don't browse dmoz categories either, I always search with a search engine but sometimes I need to have the best sites on a specific topic and then a categorization is very important. ex: http://find.hm/Directory/Computers/I...ing/Metasearch
(ordered by alexa ranking, not pr)
IndexU is very capable of handeling very large numbers of links, the documentation probably is in relation to 3.2, the new version of indexU has made many improvments.
Can indexU do it? well... probably - it maybe slow at a few few things - the point esm makes is its $99 software, designed to run a directory script - its does its job well, 100,000 links no problem thosands of categories nto an issue, but then to ask it to clone the worlds biggest directory site? its not really designed for that.
