It is really progressing very fast.

How about a discount if we buy more licenses

It might be a good idea as many of us probably still have sites that use portal system that we bought before we discovered Indexu. If we get a discount then we could buy more licenses

This is what is currently being offered right now with INDEXU 3.0.4 the next release of indexu will have a few more features as well as bug fixes, and new templates.


I'm sure there will be discussion on a package pricing for those who are interested in buying bulk packages of indexu licenses.

I thought that you were talking about the next release 3.1 (??). Your thread was soo long so I assumed that you were talking about the next release.

It seems to me that Indexu is progressing faster than the other 2 competitors (no name or url supplied ) so if current license holders can receive a discount then personally I would buy more licenses.

Maybe a dumb question! Have been reading through many of the posts for specific information on ad-ons...

I like the software and I would like to know some pointers...

1. Can one upload documents (pdf/txt) in place of URL's (Like the Salvation Army Resource guide) easily?

2. Can one use any calender, chat, bulletin board (I understand some work is being done with vbulletin) programs along with Indexu?

Any pointers will be helpful!

Yes, you can upload anything. Just specify allowed file extention to upload in admin cp.

Not sure about 'Salvation Army Resource guide'. I do not understand what do you mean.

It depend on how you'll use them. Mostly you're dealing with membership integation. If you use vBulletin, then you get them all. vB has chat hack and already have calendar. Indexu itself can be integrated into indexu, but still not perfect.

So, what is "not perfect" about the integration????

Ideal integration in my mind is indexu and vbulletin can work together without sacrificing any features. If you see in vb integration thread, you have to sacrifice some features: such as favorite listing, user panel, etc ...

The points should be intergrated are:
- login user and password recovery
- my account / user cp
- editors

And that is for release version

No problems.

You can make up a custom field with the aim of using it for clients pdf files.

The easiest way would be to have the client to store the pdf file on their site as clients usually forget to update data that they have submitted to web sites.

Otherwise you would have to keep track on whether the pdf file that you have on your site is the latest one or not.

Thank you for your responses. I plan on using indexu as a resource site for social work education. Essentially... creating a worldwide (country and state specific) programs of social work with the ability of faculty and researchers to upload material like syllabi, assignments etc... that was why I wanted to know about the pdf files... your comments were helpful...

I see another way indexu can be used... that is to be able to print out the site architecture (that is the main categories and the subs) which can be used for taxonomy of specific fields...
