Default DMOZ Extractor - without Indexu

    Hello,

I have a three site license for phpmydirectory. I can use it to import CSV files containing basic information like categories, titles, URLs etc, so I've been looking for a DMOZ extractor that will enable me to seed a directory with some basic categories for a niche directory.

I don't need bells and whistles; just the directory structure of the categories, the titles, the URLs, and maybe a few more fields.

I've found one product that looks like it does that job but it hasn't been updated since 2003 (but then, if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it!), and now Extreme Dmoz Extractor.

Is Extreme Dmoz Extractor too much for my needs? I don't want another directory script, I just want to create CSV files fo small areas of DMOZ for two niche sites.

    Thanks,
    Ben

Extreme DMOZ will due what your asking for You dont need to purchase IndexU also. When DMOZ creates the category and links files, you'll probably just need to adjust the format that phpMyDirectory needs for a proper import.

The Extreme DMOZ Extrctor doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles, but please remember that the current version can only extract english language dmoz slices.

The DMOZ Extractor outputs it's files in tab delimited format, you can easily change that to CSV by using a search and replace program.
