Is it possible to change the word browse in the url? what file needs to be changed? (I bought indexu but dont know how to enter the other forum categories)

yes you can.
just play around with url mod rewrite, please refer to mod-rewrite guide that is provided with your indexu copy.

Change it to "directory" would not be such a bad idea. Or maybe if your directory is more specific, you can put a related keyword in.
