Additional Category Limitation (currently 3)

Hi,

Sorry if it's been asked before but is there any way in increase the number of additional categories for each link. I understand the current limit is a total of three categories. E.g. can a link be in ten different categories?

If I wanted to do this whats involved?

I feel that more than 1 or 2 is a bad thing simply for the fact that duplicate content is bad. However there is no easy way currently to do more than 3.

We plan to change this, but how many would be the limit I have no idea. I would like to see it configurable by the site owner.

that could be a great idea. The limit should be set at least at ten

...of course, ten duplicates are not such good thing for SEO!

Thanks for the replies. Yes, in my own opinion the amount of additional categories per link should be limitless by the software but certainly configurable by the site admin. In some cases such as complex & large category structures it would be desirable in my circumstance and I'm sure for other users.

The cat1/cat2 (and maybe category_id) fields in the dx_link table should be normalised and brought out into a table on their own to facilitate this.

Glad to here it's on your radar for future feature. Would anybody else like this?

No, because it requires replacing and/or ignoring code and plugins cannot do that. A plugin simply adds to the code.
