Question Add fields to Detail Page?

    Hello!

I really like the look of this software. I saw as an example, the Hawaiiwebsite.com site, and one thing I liked was the expanded Detail.php page:
    http://www.hawaiiwebsite.com/dining/detail.php?id=9

It looks like they have extra fields like, the icon legend, telephone, address, business hours, location... What did they do to add extra fields, did they have to add them to the table, and to the forms, etc.?

And, if so, what I really would like is to have a text field that will allow me to use HTML like an ezine subscribe form, but I wonder if that is possible in a text field? Does the description field allow for html like form code, for example?

I'm versed enough with php to hack to add fields, but I wondered if this is what hawaiiwebsite had to do, or if there are extra fields available in the software?

    TIA,
    Alanna

The hawaii website just added custom fields within the admin cp which was called up again in their details page. There's no need to add tables or edit forum for submission since INDEXU will automatically add these custom fields to users submitting links.

There are extra fields available to be added to INDEXU as desired by the admin.

    Default adding fields, cont'd

Hello, thank you for your quick reply.

I'm inside the Demo Admin. area, and I don't see where someone can add the extra fields. Can you point out where?

    Thanks,
    Alanna

In the admin cp, there is an area called database tables. Look for a feature called alter. Click on that and you will directed to the alter/edit/add field area.

In this area you can add custom image fields, tables, and more.

    Talking Aha!

Aha! Found it, thank you very much! MUCH better than having to hack up things yourself!

btw, if I wanted a field to allow html like a subscribe form box, would it be a text field or a varchar, do you know? Would having a form inside a field bother the system, do you think?

Thank you for all your help. This software looks much better than what I've seen so far.

I've used text fields myself to include html tags and they work fine. I haven't tried the varchar field so I can't really comment on that.

Yes the script is very powerful and flexible towards what you want to do and customize to your needs.

I highly recommend it for anyone interested in a portal solution. You'll will find many of our members, very please with this script.
