    Default new posts "fixed"

I spoke with Dody a while back about making another change to the way the forum is set up and that change was implimented tonight.

Previously the "new posts" function relied on cookies which was a somewhat accurate way of recording posts that were read. But it also meant that some posts were not marked that they had new replies.

The forum now uses the database to record what threads users have viewed and which ones they haven't. This method of forum marking is (as far as I know and have seen) 100% accurate.

Posts and replies should now be seen by everyone when they click on New Posts and this will ensure that no one post(s) get missed.

The drawback of this method is that the first time you log onto the forum after it has been enabled you may experience a rather large list of new posts.

If you would like to make those posts disappear since there may be a large amount of them you can visit the homepage and click on the link near the bottom of the page that says Mark Forums Read. This will clear the list and you can start anew.

I hope you are enjoying the changes to the forum that have been implimented and would invite users to make any other suggestions they feel would improve the forum functionality.

They won't keep stacking up. It's perfectly safe to mark them read and they will not appear again.
