me thinks 3.2 looks like 4.0 demo (http://www.nicecoder.com/community/s...ead.php?t=2208)

but then the older I get the worse my eyes get ( the mind went years ago so I know it was not playing tricks on me...! )

Thanks for this great help !
Next time I ask my mother, she would try to help me more.

By the way, if you cache the pages (demo is still wrong...), what happens with php includes ?

I did verify that all the bugs listed at http://www.nicecoder.com/community/s...ead.php?t=2225 were fixed. While I had a question about a couple, they were all corrected as best I could tell. Many were identified as "fixes" in the 3.2 code.

I had actually almost finished my own 3.2 version of INDEXU based on the bug listing above. If you cannot just copy the files, I think the best way to upgrade from 3.1 is to follow the instructions shown for each bug.

Either way you will have to copy and paste code. So your choices are to copy and paste from the bug message which gives you instructions on how to do it or to copy and paste from v3.2 which has no instructions. Or if dody had created the instructions, they would look like the instruction in the bug forum.

Dody did introduce a limited mod_rewrite feature and a "static" page feature. The mod_rewrite MOD at my site is the same but covers more pages . And the static page is only a few lines of code at the top of the browse.php file.

    Nope

By the way, if you cache the pages (demo is still wrong...), what happens with php includes ?
    Frank
The cached pages are just HTML; there is no PHP in them. So the "includes" do not get run again. The displayed cached page looks exactly like the original page. If they meet the criteria, INDEXU just displays the cached HTML page without recreating it.

Which by the way, really decreases the need for "true" static pages.

INDEXU has DYNAMICALLY CREATED STATIC pages. Kind of like having the best of both worlds.

esm is absolutely correct, output buffering mean indexu will create a static pages. When someone visiting page with cache enable (frontpage, category, detail pages), then indexu will try to find its static page. If the static page is found and still in its cache life time, then indexu will load the static pages instead of running the entire php codes. Otherwise indexu will running the codes and save the output as static page, next time someone access this page, the static page will be loaded.

By implement this method, indexu will run "almost" as fast as static html pages and save a lot of your server resource.

Attention: you must be careful when caching page with user specific information such as frontpage (index.php) that has login information. Here is the scenario, when someone login, then indexu checked the cache. In case indexu create a new cache for this person with his login info. Then the other people also get this cached file, so they also see the same login info.
