IndexU Roadmap

The road has been bumpy so far, but here is the roadmap for IndexU over the next three months.

While everyone may not agree with the decisions, I feel this is the best possible course of action for IndexU so we can move on and continue to improve it.

1) No new features will be added to IndexU until the following has been completed (bugfixes will still be done)
2) Remove short_open_tags (there are still a few hiding)
3) Update IndexU to use MD5 encryption for user passwords
4) Update IndexU to lock out users after 3 failed logins
5) Release IndexU 1.3.3 with the above features and other bugfixes previously released
6) ALL open bugs will be fixed and a few small features added
7) Move all non-template specific settings into the admin panel so users no longer need to edit files like category.class.php or link.class.php
8) Release IndexU 1.40

Yes the roadmap does specify two releases in three months so that means we will be missing/skipping a release and possibly missing the standard release dae(s).

I think this is a sensible approach.
I personally am very happy with what you guys have built here and the fact that you are so keen to further and better your products and be so open to new ideas is a great thing. Here's to a bright future.

I will keep it even simple without adding anything new to the 1.3.3 and just concentrate in bug fixing a code cleaning.

All the new feature should be release on the new 1.4.0 (after summer?).

I will be also nice if you could start a "brain team" for write down a list of what could be nice to add (summer 2009?) to the new 1.4.0 and what in the indexu 2.0. (summer 2010?)

Honestly we have dozens of suggestions on the project tools and I've submitted dozens of plugin ideas. I think we plenty to start with but of course we're always willing to entertain more ideas.

I would agree that NiceCoder needs to get caught up on bugfixes before it spends the time on new features / projects.

I hope this means that the Sitemap issues ( *cough* *cough* ) will make in all the bug fixes as well
