IndexU Deluxe 1.30 Released

Nicecoder is proud to announce that IndexU Deluxe v1.30 has been released.

IndexU Deluxe v1.30 is a major release and contains the following fixes and updates
- Bugfix - idx2phpbb plugin (error checking)
- Bugfix - Database import (error checking)
- Bugfix - Cronjobs
- Bugfix - .htaccess (commented out Options which causes issues on some servers)
- Bugfix - sestat plugin (yahoo links were not being counted)
- Bugfix - handle links in format ansi and utf-8
- Bugfix - added default page rank image if no PR has been fetched yet
- Bugfix - Small fix to Moneybookers payment module


- Addition - Ability to block websites by their nameserver domain (to eliminate "parked" webpages from being submitted)
- Addition - New admin panel (screenshot attached)
- Addition - New languages - Portuguese and Danish


Changes were also made to the following items
- Checkurl for bad link
- Discount Coupon Payment
- Select option of category link on add, modify, upgrade
- Plugin class
- new hooks on filter.lib.php
- Kosmos template

I would also like to mention that IndexU is moving away from using short open tags which will alleviate issues for some users. This process is about 50% complete so far. I hope that by the next release (the end of the month) that it will be 100% complete.

Sorry but there just wasn't time to complete this before release time for 1.30.

Irkham will be pleased that you like the admin template. I like it too.

Short tags in PHP use <? but some servers (very few to be honest) have issues with them. To alleviate those issues we will change all PHP tags to use <?php

This will just help ensure that IndexU will run on as many systems as possible.

The same goes for the Options line in .htaccess. Only some users have issues with it because their environment does not all Options. So it is now commented by default.

What does the options line do? It simply disables the ability to view directories. But if you notice, every folder in IndexU also has an index.html. Having the two things (options plus the index.html) is overkill.

Agreed... 1.3 is very nice especially the Admin backend! Congrats guy!!!

Also congrats to NiceCoder for allowing beta testers to test the new version before releasing it... There are still a couple minor bugs but this has to be the BEST release I can remember as far as bugs go! Nice Work!!!!!

The beta testing was all my idea (yup I'm taking credit) because I wanted the release to contain as few bugs as possible. Some still made it through though.

The third user in one week just contacted support and has issues with short_open_tags. We've used short open tags for years and never seen this many users have issues.

The issue will be fixed in the next release which is scheduled to come out at the end of February and will be a bugfix release. Due to one bug I found in the admin panel however I might get the programmers to release the next version soon than the end of the month. All I can suggest is that we wait and see what happens.

I am not sure but I think php 5.2+ has short open tags disabled in the php.ini file by default. This may be why ou are seeing an increase lately with a lot of servers finally migrating to php 5 from php 4.

It's possible, but I haven't been able to confirm it. What I have seen though in a few searches that I did, were users saying short open tags sometimes conflict with xml which uses <?xml Now that idea to me sounds silly, because one would assume that you would only parse a file as xml if it started with <?xml anything with <? would be php. Makes sense to me but I'm not a programmer, I have more common sense than that

But you would think that an intelligent admin would try and keep the same environment from PHP4 to PHP5. I know I did when I upgraded my server.

Does IndexU have a live demo of 1.3 running anywhere. Was the HTML cleaned up as it was supposed to be?

I'll get the programmers to upgrade the demo today if they can. I dont know if kosmos was cleaned up to be w3 compliant or not.

I do konw that Irkham was working on the indexutemplates themes to make them compliant but I don't know the status of that project.

The way we work it, templates aren't actually considered part of the IndexU upgrade any longer. They are basically standalone items now (hence the version numbers for templates) and you should see some action on xhtml compliance soon.
