I don't think there are any plans for 2.X releases, considering the newsletter he sent around March 02 (see below).

Here is the big news. I'm going to release a new version of indexu this month. It is a big update. Or rather I'd say it is soo big update.

Indexu v7 is a complete rewrite, 100% new source code. This is something that I have done myself long ago. With over 12 years of knowledge in developing directory script, I put it all together, carefully rewrite and redesign the structure. As a result, the ideal directory script.


What does it have?

1) Advanced custom fields. Now you can set error handling of custom field. From simple 'required' to complex 'regular expression'.

2) Custom fields for other database table. It is not only for link table, but for category as well. And ... some others.

3) Simplify template system. No more than 20 files to work. It has been reduced compared with indexu deluxe that has over 100 template files.

4) No more smarty template. It use php as template. Faster. And if you are developer, it is easier to add more features ... more flexible in many ways.

5) Faster core engine, sql optimized. I tested with over 1,000,000 links. It work without significant performance drop.

6) 3rd party integration. I added facebook connect, twitter poster, mailchimp, recaptcha, and google map.

What will be removed?

1) Plugin system. It cost additional complexity and more processing. As solution, lets get it like in old indexu 5.x way. I will put all out of the box as single package.

2) There will be only one category per listing.

3) Only one paid listing type.
