Mod_rewrite is not update .htaccess file

Dear Support,

We already had mailed my query on support@nicecoder.com but didn't received any reply so i am also submiting my query here too.. i hope i might get some +ve reply.

We have successfully install Indexu Deluxe listing but when we put rewrtie module On from admin panel doesn't it seems to be work though it has to update category path too but .htaccess file not update .?

Any solution on this would be great..

change rights to make it writeable: CHMOD 666 .htaccess should help.
