Default Fatal Error when upgrading from 5.4 to Deluxe 2.3

I'm getting the following error message when trying to upgrade from 5.4 to Deluxe 2.3

Fatal error: Class 'clsIndexu' not found in /home/directop/public_html/init.php on line 15

The fatal error comes just after it does a file permission check in the install script

    Any ideas???
