Default Contact Us plugin doesn't work with OctoTheme

When you access the contact us page you get the error:

Warning: Smarty error: unable to read resource: "sidebar2.html"

I know the sidebar2.html doesn't exist in this template. Tried renaming rightbar2.html but doesn't quite work right.

Any chance of a fix please?

Can you edit the html files for the contact us plugin and remove the reference to sidebar2.html, if that file doesn't exist in your template.

You could but then you don't have a right sidebar which will look odd.

The template and plugin are both supplied on indexutemplates so i would hope one would work with the other...

I must be misunderstanding you. From this quote, it would seem that your saying, your template doesn't use sidebar2.html. Which given the error message that it cant read that file, makes sense.

I'm also going to assume that since sidebar2.html doesn't exist, that more than likely your just side either sidebar1.html, or sidebar.html?!?!?!

Can you edit the html files to put / reflect the sidebar that your using?

The problem is that some templates only use /sidebar1.html. Other templates only use /sidebar2.html. Some templates use /sidebar1.html on one page, but use /sidebar2.html on another page, depending on what is being displayed. Other templates only use sidebar2.html. When creating a plugin, it makes it hard to ensure it matches each and every template perfectly. You take the most common scenario and if yours doesn't match up, you just modify the html files in the plugin to match your type.

Hi, my point was that OctiTheme uses a file called rightbar.html ratherthan sidebar.html

Yes I can rename it but it still doesn't sit right.

As both are supplied through indexutemplates i am a little surprised they don't quite work together.

I'm ok with html but when you start getting stylesheet issues then it goes over my head... I just want:-

IndexU + Template + Plugins to just work together really.

That's good. I've moved on to the 'Web Directory' template but this also has stylesheet issues with the 'Contact Us' plugin.

As a Contact Us page is quite a basic requirement it would be nice to get this working.

Hi every theme has different layout. That's why sometimes there will be a problem because the plugins designed for the default template.

Oke, here's the fix for contact us plugin issue in octo theme.

Download the file, extract it and replace plugin/contact_us/template/contact_us.html with the file I attach here. Don't forget to backup the old one. You will need it when you change the template.

Thanks for that. Would this also work for the 'Web Directory' template which i am now using?
