It's a nice layout. I like the background and it serves to soften up the page and make it generally eye pleasing. Now for the "bad" stuff.

At first glance all I can see are ads, seven of them to be exact. Almost of them rotating and flipping and being generally annoying.

Scrolling down, there is news about Britney Spears. Who cares that she needs a police escort? Certainly not I, and most probably no one interested in weddings. Hannah Montana movie plans is the next news story. Again, how is this wedding related? You may very well have done this by mistake by entering an incorrect URL for a news feed or leaving the default one there. But if you did that on purpose it's only going to annoy your visitors.

Under the menu list at the top I fail to see why you have yet another image with your URL there however. It looks like you were just trying to fill up the whitespace with something. The second image is overkill and you could fill it up perhaps with links to other sites or maybe even put a randome site mod on the site and show it there.

I would also suggest dumping the images under search because those links are already at the top of the page. Or you could dump the top links. Either one would be good because they are redundant

Dump the yahoo entertainment feed on the left hand column or change it to something related to your site.

Fix the text in the mailing list block for proper grammar. This is IndexU default text and is grammatically incorrect and can make a site look bad.

Thank you very much for your helpful feedback, I have already made some changes and I will make some more later, actually right now I am working on version 6.0 now so I will consider all your points on my new design.
