    Cool UK site in action

Here's my effort Yorkshire & Humberside Directory .

Check out this page http://www.yorkshire-search.co.uk/links/add.php3 as I have built a very dodgy meta tag grabber.

Only irritating thing on the above page is that I don't seem able to limit the width of the category text box. However the site is going from 640 to 800 pixels shortly so that problem will not an issue.

    Cheers

    Phil

    you have been busy today!

just as a suggestion, it is not necessary to use the quote feature in this situation. we can pretty much see what you are responding to and it takes up additional bandwidth and space.

I hate the flat thread view of forums. you don't know who is responding to what thread.

I try to use the quote feature when there are several other folks repsonding to a thread and maybe my response is to a post several posts ago and I am trying to let folks know what I am responding to. Sometimes, folks know what/who you are responding to by what you write. Or maybe when I want to respond to something very specific someone wrote.

There are no hard and fast rules for much of anything. I am sure if you look at my posts, I could do a much better job of posting. I doubt that I would be a good role-model on this subject.

All this and $1.00 will get you a cup of coffee...!

Seems to be nearly 2 years between the first and second post on this thread. Anyhow I am back developing websites again after getting my sentence reduced to manslaughter. The judge was very fair and agreed that the Indonesian programmer who sold me the duff website script was quite frankly "asking for it." Contributory negligence.

Because I've recently joined a religious cult and we believe that search engines are the devils work.

I think the server might be looking for index.html and can't find it. It doesn't take index.php as a fall back address.

Actually you are half-right as I noticed a while back that index.php now fails to be recognised as a directory Index. I assume someone at my hosting company updated httpd.conf and forgot to add the above to directory Index directive.

If anyone is that desperate to look at the site, the actual link to the directory is http://www.yorweb.co.uk/links/index.php but I started changing stuff and never finished it off.

... and if you really want a laugh, this dead website has had 145 links added to the directory and awaiting approval. Don't people have homes to go to? Move along please, there's nothing to see.
