    Default audiomastermind.com

    Hi,

after some sleepless nights figuring out php codes...( this was completly new for me) i put our site online. In a testing fase right now....but in a few weeks it should be shining like a star.

any tips of improving the site are welcome.

www.audiomastermind.com is a directory for the professional audio branch. The links are selected by proffesional audio engineers.

thx to nicecoder for the wonderfull script.
thx to the forumposters... i learned a lot by reading...

    greetings

really nice job. Just wondering with your thumbshots you have "picture coming soon" how did you do that? because the default no image for thumbshots is a transparent gif.

I made a script that resizes and stores uploaded images in indexu, and use this with thumbshots, but if a site is then aded to dmoz i get 2 images appearing...

I want an If no thumbshots image > look here > else load this transparent image ...

Anyway, you have done a top job, I wish you lots of visitors... talking of dmoz and visitors, do we have any corrupt editors on these forums? I have 1 sites that has been in the queue for 2 and a half years now

    thxs for the compliment...

about the images... i just put another image in the background ( table)... when there isn't an image... that "background" image comes up.... its just a litllebit smaller than the thumbnails.

    simple but effective....

A very nice theme you have made for the site. You have a problem with indexabillity for search engines.

Update the script with these file updates I got from dody:

    http://www.eurofind.biz/download/dod...exu-update.zip

This will give you hyphen in categories and this is a wordsplitter, while advertising_and_marketing is not.

You will get vetegories like this:

    http://www.eurofind.biz/browse-adver...eting-3-1.html

Also, you need to get rid of session IDs. This is very important or your site will never be well indexed and get little traffic from search engines.

A good place to start to look into this is here:

    http://www.nicecoder.com/community/s...ead.php?t=2170

It is not solved on all files for me, but it atleast stops the session IDs on category pages.

Added your site to topical web directories in Eurofind.

Hm...seems the session IDs are gone from the cats now. Dont know what does it. Cookies or not. Thing is that I dont think the SE bots accept any cookie, so they will always be a first time visitor.

Anyone got som enlightment to shed on this?

I think im off to make a directory of dirctories of directories, I will include your site

Search engines on my site keep slipping up, but I just had another visit from googlebot and I think i have abotu 600 pages indexed this time. Will wait and see. Im sandboxed at the moment though

You wont seee the session IDs if you are logged in. Neither will you see them normally after you have browsed the site a bit.

    Thanks, Inspireme :-)

    your links are WRONG!
    your links are WRONG!
    your links are WRONG!
    your links are WRONG!

folks don't see the correction they need to make but instead they see the WRONG, WRONG, WRONG, WRONG that you wrote.

Folks spend a lot of time working on their site and some struggle with the PHP or the HTML or both. They get it to a point they are a little proud of it and want others to see their good work. Then you come along and say WRONG, WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. At that point, no matter how good your intentions are, they will become defensive.

While in this situation there is an obvious difference, other situations may not be so obvious. You may or may not be right. but if you are ALWAYS critical and say WRONG, WRONG, WRONG, WRONG then folks will become defensive and refuse to accept your help.

I understand that English is not your native language. Sometimes it is very good and sometimes it is difficult to understand. Sometimes folks think that all you do is CRITICIZE, CRITICIZE, CRITICIZE, CRITICIZE. ( See, I just did to you what you do to other folks sometimes ). Ask youself, "why is it that I don't seem to get along with folks here at the INDEXU site. I am really just a nice guy and I really want to help folks with their site. If they would just listen to me."

As a suggestion, sometimes you just have to let folks make their own errors. Or when you see what you think are errors or something is WRONG, WRONG, WRONG, WRONG, don't say they are WRONG, WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. Don't be critical ALL the time. ( Once again, I am telling you how critrical you always are and you problably don't like it ). What comes across is the critcal nature, not the desire to see someone with a "better" site.

I suggest you share your own experiences when you see an "error" rather say it is WRONG, WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. Here is an example:

"Hey, landuyt, I was at your site and it really looks nice but I noticed one page had a single link presented two different ways. I have noticed that google sometimes will not index either site when that happens. Just thought you might like to take a look at: http://www.linkscoder.com/link_coder/" I would be interested in getting your point of view on this."

esm, sorry, I can't understand what you say, the urls are wrong, may be not important for you as the coder, but in my opinion bad for the site owner.
You won't get points for stupid posts...

Sorry landuyt, I didn't see that the forum hides the url
Its a small different in rewrite. If you have problems to see it copy both urls and compare then outsite:

    browse-drum-sets--accessoires-hardware-61-1.html
    browse-drum-sets,-accessoires,hardware-61-1.html

-> in the pagination url still is a comma instead of rewritten comma of category path and now if you go back (previous or 1) in pagination you goz a second url for your first site of category.
Not sure which version you use at the moment, but in 3.2 must be a rewrite definition only for pagination and it seems you use a differnet definition at this place.

Hm, only to suggest to change, esm things it is a great feuture to double your site but...

esm: peep peep, this is not the bug of your software keep cool

Don't try to be disingenuous, Frank. You don't know what I think and don't say you do. I did not indicate in any way that it would "double your site." My only comment on what you had seen was "... in this situation there is an obvious difference...".

And I will press the point. you state "in my opinion bad for the site owner." I can accept that since you say it is just your opinion. But hell, eveyone has opinion. Do you have any proof that it is "bad for the site owner?" Is there some sort of Google document that supports what your opinion. Is there some sort of authoritative support (documents, web articles, white paper) that would take the reader beyond your opinion to some factual support. (BTW, I already know the answer to these questions but others may not.)

well, Frank, you won't get points for stupid posts either.

let me see if I can make it plain for you:
you irritate people here at the forum. you even manage to irritate me from time to time and it takes a lot to irritate me.

in PMs and emails over the past 2 years, people ask me "What is wrong with Frank? Is he just trying to make people mad"?

Frank, the more you post, the more you irritate folks.

And finally, Frank, if you are going to criticize everyone else's work and websites, you should post your own website(s). Show us how it is done, don't just tell us what we have done is bad or wrong.

What should I say, you are the champ, by the way the champ without website - you don't use your own hacks and mods and never we say your great site

I can only suggest everyone to be very careful with double content and one site with 100% same content on two urls is searchengine spam.
You can read it in every webmaster forum or searchengine site, no need to post urls no never will check.
There is no space between listed in and dropped out by google.
You know my first site onlineeinkaufszentrum.de, PR7 on 4th of april 2004, grey bar (NO PR - nothing, nada,...) index dropped by Google on 5th of april 2004. I lost round about 15000 UV and more than 100000 sites in G. in one night because of double content.
May be you know it better because you are the champ, but never again I want a day like this and the errors (or call it in my opinion bad features) in your latest version are the first step in the same direction.

    Frank
